Across my career I've had the good fortune to work on many innovations, some of which have been world firsts. At Philips I was involved in the earliest days of WiFi connected devices, and launched the first consumer tablet - Pronto Pro. The Pronto family of home control devices included the first 'app store' where users could download 'configuration files' that added new functionality from a website.
A project with Philips Consumer Communications, rethinking the generic business-led mobile phones of the day for youth markets, led to the first fashion phones.
At Nokia, I worked on the first all touch-screen phone - Nokia 5800 family - which launched 3 months before the first iPhone and sold 35 million units. Exploring a future connected devices scenario we uncovered the opportunity for a connected watch 3 years before Apple.
